I missed this the first time through but glad I revisited. Good news, SK. BTW, I was biking around town today and got to meet Austin and Hallie's new child - Fern, I believe. Such a wonder. Thanks for continuing to write.

C.

Just had quarterly CT-scan and blood work. No signs of returning lymphoma and some improvement in blood stuff, especially neutrophils and platelets. Looks like the bone marrow is doing better and immune system is stronger. The slow recovery continues.

Wow....a powerful essay. Thanks for sharing. There's a lot of sadness and fear inside of me when looking deeply at what the human species has wrought across the land, and what's to come for all species if we continue along the path of domination. Here's to finding ways to become one with the land again, to ask for forgiveness of the land and non-human species - sentient and non-sentient - for past transgressions, and cultivating communities of partnership and mutual respect.

Dear Santi, Thank you for speaking with Uncle Hickory and sharing your conversations with us. Trees and other creatures have much to teach us about living and surviving mindfully. May I copy and share your writing with our newly formed Gardnerville sangha? I think it will touch and encourage our new meditators starting out on the path. I plan to share your web-site with them as well. I continue to be grateful for your sincere and compassionate teachings. May all beings be well and find peace.
Your dhamma friend, Karen from Minden, NV

In my line of duties ,especially as a mother a wife and a nurse, I observed " Distrust in ourselves easily gets projected on to others and society. " a lot. It happened to both myself and people I had contacts with. I sometimes tried to explain to AK that people rarely paid attentions to how others look ( when she had to put make up on first or she would not feel comfortable eating out with us :O ) but I was also aware of her age and peer pressure and how her internal dialogue might be going on.
Your post helped me reflect my own thoughts and deeds . I learn to mind my own business more when the unwanted critical thoughts enter my head. During any procedures,Though, I found it was useful to remind a very anxious patients to learn to trust the doctors to do their jobs as I had learnt to trust them from years of working with them myself.
Thanks for the insightful post! :)
