announcing fun-filled weekends for Spring & Summer 2008

We are thankful for all the goodwill offered to Liberation Park at the organized work weekends throughout the Summer and Fall of 2007. Much was accomplished, midst good cheer, including the barn. The fun continues this Spring, Summer, & Fall ...

2008 Weekends

In 2008, the big projects will be putting in a garden & fence around it, and continuing work on the cabin. There are many smaller projects to tackle as well.

Thanks to all the friends who've helped so far this summer.

Remaining: September 20-21 and October 4-5

Please note that accommodations & facilities are limited. We have two tent cabins, a tipi, an outhouse, and running water (without heater). If roughing it doesn't appeal, please come as a day trip or stay in a nearby B&B or motel. (More on staying at LP.)

When people asked Ajahn Buddhadasa to sprinkle them with 'holy water,' a Thai custom, he responded: Work hard and wash away selfishness with sweat. If you think Liberation Park is worthy of such support, please join us for any work days that you can make.

In many of these areas we'll be going through our own learning curve before we are well organized and efficient. If you've got specific skills let us know so we can tap your expertise and plug you into the right projects.

Lodging

We can provide basic sleeping arrangements in tent cabins (on a first come first serve basis). We have one outhouse on site & running water. For some, it will be easier to come for just one or the other of the weekend days (unless you are interested in camping or staying at a local B&B [A or B] or hotel).

Projects completed

With lots of help and joy, we have been able to finish the following:

extensive property cleanup: removing barbed wire, downed wood, noxious species

two tent-cabins on platforms

outhouse with composting toilet

first cabin foundation

environmental restoration assessment & planning

well siting & renewable energy planning

well & pump installation

barn (main structure & niceties)

garden fence, garden beds, compost bins, & planting
