Final chemo round update

It’s Monday evening and my last chemo IV is done. However, the chemo has begun to take effect and knocked down my red blood cells (RBCs), so I’m here for the night to get a couple units of RBCs.

Further, my body has yet to sufficiently clear the methotrexate (MTX) I received a couple days ago. Until the MTX clears, I’ll continue to receive IVs with sodium bicarbonate to keep from becoming acidic and endanger my kidneys with crystals from the MTX. Then I’ll be discharged, perhaps tomorrow morning. Or … oh, uncertainty 😉

Then we’ll go on neutropenia watch as this final cycle continues. Hopefully not as dragged out as the last one.
